Tragic news came in as rapper Rich Homie Quan passed away due to an accidental drug overdose at the young age of 34 on September 5.
A 911 call released to the media revealed a heart-wrenching scene as Rich Homie Quan’s girlfriend, Amber Williams, reported that he had been “asleep on the couch since this morning” and never returned to bed.
During the call, she expressed her concern after noticing he was not breathing and couldn’t feel a heartbeat, even describing how he “foamed at the mouth” when she attempted to check on him.
When asked about a defibrillator, she admitted she wasn’t familiar with it. The operator guided her through the process of getting him on the floor and performing CPR, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Rich Homie Quan gained fame through his collaborations with Young Thug, particularly their mixtape Rich Gang: Tha Tour Part 1. Their relationship was marked by both success and public disputes over career paths.
Rising Toll of Rapper Overdoses
Unfortunately, Rich Homie Quan is part of a troubling trend, as many rappers have succumbed to drug-related fatalities.
Lil Peep died in 2017 from a combination of fentanyl and Xanax. The following year, Mac Miller lost his life due to an accidental overdose involving fentanyl, alcohol, and cocaine. Fredo Santana passed away in 2018 from a seizure tied to his drug use history, while Juice WRLD died in 2019 after suffering a seizure, with oxycodone and codeine found in his system.
Additionally, DMX’s death in 2021 was linked to a heart attack brought on by a drug overdose.
