Former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential contender, shared his reactions to Vice President Kamala Harris’ speech during the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on his Truth Social platform Thursday night.
Harris addressed the audience in Chicago around 10:30 p.m. to formally accept her nomination, following a swift rise in her campaign after President Joe Biden stepped down on July 21.
Before her speech, Trump teased his followers, stating he planned to be “fair but critical” of Harris on Truth Social. During her address, he posted several live updates, questioning her rapid thank-yous and emphasizing, “WHERE’S HUNTER?” He also remarked that her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, “was an ASSISTANT Coach, not a COACH.”
As Harris spoke about her childhood and legal ambitions, Trump commented, “A lot of talk about childhood, we’ve got to get to the Border, Inflation, and Crime!”
Earlier, he criticized her nomination, claiming Harris “became the Nominee without receiving one Vote,” and accused her of stealing the spot from Biden, who received 14 million votes. He suggested this situation might represent a form of election interference.
The timing of Biden’s exit this close to the November election is quite unusual.
Later, Trump turned his attention to Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren during Harris’ speech, labeling her “Pocahontas” and alleging she exploited her claimed Native American heritage. Warren has faced criticism for her ancestry claims, which she tried to clarify with a DNA test that provoked further backlash.
In her address, Warren defended Harris, asserting, “Kamala was protecting families, and Donald was scamming students at Trump University,” and contrasting the two by saying, “That is the difference between a criminal and a prosecutor.”
