Kerstin Emhoff, former wife of Doug Emhoff, took to social media to support Vice President Kamala Harris after comments made on Fox News. Host Jesse Watters suggested that if Harris were to become president, she would struggle to assert herself in the Situation Room, allegedly leaving her vulnerable to the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
During The Five, Watters expressed uncertainty about Harris’s foreign policy stances and said, “We don’t know who she is” and claimed she might be “manhandled” in a figurative sense. His comments drew reactions from fellow panelists, prompting him to clarify he meant it in a non-sexual way.
In response, Kerstin Emhoff tweeted, “There are many things to worry about, but Kamala being manhandled in the situation room is not one of them.”
Kerstin, a film producer, was married to Doug Emhoff for 16 years until their divorce in 2008. They share two children, Cole (29) and Ella (25), both of whom had impactful moments at the recent Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
She attended the convention to show her support for Harris’s campaign, posting a heartfelt photo of herself with Doug and commenting on their 33-year friendship. She expressed pride in their blended family and excitement about the upcoming campaign efforts.
Kerstin also played a key role in the convention by producing a biographical short film about Doug, titled “This Is My Dad, Doug,” directed by Cole Emhoff. The film chronicles Doug and Kamala’s relationship, from their initial blind date to their wedding in 2014, and highlights their evolving roles in politics. Cole reminisced about the profound impact of that fateful blind date during his narration.
