Elon Musk has invited Vice President Kamala Harris for an interview following his recent chat with Donald Trump on X, previously known as Twitter.
Musk conducted a nearly two-hour interview with Trump using the Spaces feature on his app, discussing various topics. During the session, Trump surprisingly complimented Harris, likening her to Melania Trump and calling her a “beautiful woman.”
Post-interview, Musk took to X and offered Harris the same platform, saying, “Happy to host Kamala on an đť•Ź Spaces too,” on August 13, 2024.
Reactions from X users varied. One user claimed Harris wouldn’t dare participate in an unscripted interview, while Collin Rugg noted she hadn’t done any interviews in over three weeks. Another blogger questioned why she would interview someone involved in a super PAC aimed against her.
Critics have noted Harris hasn’t engaged in media interviews since President Joe Biden exited the race, with Trump even alleging the media is giving her a “free ride.” This occurred during Trump’s praise of Harris’s appearance on the latest Time magazine cover, where he commented, “She looked very much like a great first lady, Melania.”
Harris’s campaign responded by poking fun at the technical hiccups during Musk and Trump’s interview, which started 40 minutes late. Musk attributed these issues to a “massive DDOS [distributed denial of services] attack.”
Joseph Costello, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, remarked, “Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself – self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024,” as reported by The Guardian.
Though Harris hasn’t participated in media interviews lately, she is set to debate Trump three times, with scheduled dates on September 4 on Fox News, September 10 on ABC, and September 25 on NBC.
