# Families of Mass Shooting Victims React to Supreme Court Ruling
Families of mass shooting victims are outraged over the recent Supreme Court ruling regarding the ban on “bump stocks” formerly implemented during the Donald Trump era. The decision has been strongly criticized by those affected by mass shootings.
Following the 6-3 majority ruling by the Supreme Court, it was stated that they lacked the authority to ban the rapid-fire accessory that was used in the tragic Las Vegas mass shooting last year, which claimed the lives of 60 individuals.
The families of victims expressed their disappointment on social media platforms, calling attention to the potentially devastating consequences of this decision. The dissenting voices included Supreme Court Justices Ketanji Jackson, Elena Kagan, and Sonia Brown Jackson.
Speaking out against the ruling, Fred Guttenberg emphasized the grave impact it could have on future tragedies, urging Americans to vote in the upcoming elections to address issues related to gun violence and Supreme Court decisions.
President Joe Biden has also called on Congress to pass an assault weapon ban and reinstate the ban on “bump stocks”, promising to sign the bill as soon as it reaches his desk.
Manuel Oliver, the father of a Parkland shooting victim, has been actively campaigning for stricter gun laws and gun safety measures since 2018. He recently shared his unique idea of foreigners adopting American children and taking them to their home countries to protect them from the dangers of gun violence in the U.S.
As the debate on gun control continues, it is evident that the Supreme Court’s ruling has sparked significant controversy and drawn attention to the urgent need for stronger measures to prevent further tragedies.
