Former President Donald Trump’s reported admiration for military loyalty comparable to that of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler has sparked significant backlash from ex-administration officials. Olivia Troye, who previously advised former Vice President Mike Pence, described the alleged remarks as “horrifying.” This reaction comes after a piece in The Atlantic claimed Trump expressed his wish for generals who would demonstrate extreme loyalty, similar to Hitler’s generals. A spokesperson for Trump has denied these comments.
Troye took to X, formerly Twitter, to share her thoughts: “This is who Trump is: a man who trashes our military while dreaming of the loyalty of Hitler’s generals,” she stated. “It’s horrifying & unacceptable that someone who shows such blatant disrespect for those who serve our country could be president again.”
Additionally, John Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff, revealed in a New York Times interview that Trump had previously commented, “Hitler did some good things.” These revelations coincide with other allegations involving Trump’s comments related to Vanessa Guillén, a U.S. Army soldier whose murder drew national attention.
According to the report, Trump allegedly failed to cover the funeral expenses for Guillén, despite a bill being sent to the White House. During a meeting, Trump reportedly reacted disparagingly to the cost of the funeral, suggesting the family was trying to take advantage of him. This claim has also faced denials from both Meadows and a Trump spokesperson, who labeled the reports as fabrications.
