Far-right activist Laura Loomer announced her intention to sue CNN’s Anderson Cooper over a manipulated image of her alongside former President Donald Trump, which aired on Cooper’s show. Loomer’s outrage stems from a recent CNN apology issued by Pamela Brown, which acknowledged that the image had been altered and mistakenly included in several segments.
The CNN apology stated, “We regret the error,” and confirmed the image was sourced from social media without verification. Loomer took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to share this news and express her discontent, labeling the modified photo as an attempt to malign her for her public activities with Trump during the presidential debate on September 10.
In a direct message to Cooper on X, Loomer demanded a formal written retraction for the alleged defamation, labeling him a “coward” for using “fake pics.” She warned that failure to comply would result in a lawsuit, mirroring potential legal action she mentioned against comedian Bill Maher, who joked about her supposed relationship with Trump.
The situation escalated as Loomer also faced backlash from figures within Trump’s camp, including JD Vance and Marjorie Taylor Greene, for her controversial remarks regarding Kamala Harris. Loomer suggested racist implications about what the White House might look like if Harris were to be elected, which drew widespread condemnation.
