Local Republican leaders are rallying behind Representative Lauren Boebert in her bid for a district seat in Colorado.
Boebert is gearing up for a tough re-election battle in Colorado’s third district, after announcing her run for the soon-to-be vacant 4th District seat held by Ken Buck.
Former President Barack Obama praised Boebert in March as a “trusted America First Fighter,” earning her the title of a “hero.” The Cook Partisan Voting Index gives Boebert’s new district in eastern Pennsylvania an R+13 score.
Despite her controversial reputation and policies, including a disruptive incident at a Denver theater, Boebert is leading the pack among five other Republican candidates.
In a survey by Kaplan Strategies of 343 potential voters, 40% expressed support for Boebert, with favorable ratings at 47%. Her character rating also saw an increase to 41%, with a margin of error of +/- 4.3%.
Local Republican leaders, Steve Peck and Steve Peck of Douglas County Republican Party, believe Boebert’s name recognition will give her an edge in the upcoming district primaries on 25 June. They highlight her access to key voting committees, political information, and donors.
Kelly Maher, a seasoned GOP strategist, predicts Boebert’s victory in the primary due to her strong ties with the Republican base.
Douglas County Commissioner George Teal, initially unsure about endorsing Boebert, noted that many Republicans are drawn to her, calling her the choice of “an absolute plurality” who admire her courageous stance on key issues.
