Nationwide Dessert Recall Due to Allergy Risk in 39 States

Hammond’s Candies has issued a recall for their “Dark Chocolate Filled Mini Waffle Cones” due to potential undeclared allergens, as highlighted in a recent advisory from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Produced in Colorado, these 4-ounce bags might contain unlisted milk, posing risks for those with milk allergies. The recall affects retail and online customers across 39 states, including California, Florida, New York, and Texas, as well as Washington, D.C.

The FDA warns, “Individuals with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk may face serious or life-threatening reactions upon consumption.”

Specifically, the recalled products include bags with UPC -6 91355 90513 5 and item number FC23212, having product codes LN0525453 and use-by dates of 03/20/2025 and 05/20/2025. So far, one allergic reaction has been reported linked to these mislabelled items.

The FDA notes that the recall followed a report of an allergic reaction after consuming the product, leading to tests that confirmed higher-than-acceptable levels of milk proteins not mentioned on the packaging.

A milk allergy occurs when the immune system mistakenly identifies milk proteins as harmful, leading to various reactions ranging from mild hives to severe anaphylaxis, which requires immediate medical attention.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised to return it for a full refund. For any further inquiries, customers can reach out to Devon DeVries at Hammond’s Candies at 1-888-226-3999 or 303-333-5588 x 180, available Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 4 PM MST.
