Over $3 Million Raised in GoFundMe Campaigns for Victims of Trump Shooting

An incident at Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania resulted in three people injured, including the former president, and one attendee killed. Support flooded in for the victims and their families, with GoFundMe donations exceeding $3.36 million within 24 hours from two separate campaigns.

During the rally, Trump was shot on stage, sustaining a minor injury. He received medical attention and was released from the hospital the same night. Other victims of the shooting, David Dutch and James Copenhaver, are currently in stable condition, while Corey Comperatore tragically lost his life shielding his daughter.

The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was taken down by security after firing shots from a nearby building. The FBI has labeled the incident as an assassination attempt.

Efforts to support the victims emerged swiftly. Meredith O’Rourke, a senior Trump adviser, initiated a GoFundMe page named “President Trump Authorized”, which aimed to collect $1 million but has now raised over $2.8 million from over 37,000 donations. Notable contributions of $50,000 came from UFC President Dana White, Kid Rock, and The Heritage Foundation, with Vivek Ramaswamy donating $30,000.

The funds will directly aid the families affected by the tragic event. A separate campaign by Jason Bubb for Allyson Comperatore, daughter of the deceased, has garnered over $530,000 of its $7,000 goal. The community has shown immense support with over 9,900 donations, including a notable contribution of $25,000 from an anonymous donor.
