On Tuesday night in New York, vice-presidential candidates Tim Walz and JD Vance faced off in what is likely the final televised debate of the 2024 election cycle. This was a key moment for Vance, the Republican contender, to promote the “Make America Great Again” agenda, especially after Kamala Harris’ strong performance in a recent presidential debate against Donald Trump.
Walz, representing the Democrats, maintained a more centrist position, successfully steering clear of any serious missteps or personal attacks.
The debate was marked by civility, with a focus on significant current issues like Hurricane Helene and ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
After the debate, we conducted an online poll asking readers who they thought won. Thousands participated, with Vance receiving a notable majority of the votes. Readers from a variety of backgrounds shared their insights on the candidates’ performances. Here’s a selection of the feedback, edited for clarity. The poll results are at the end of the article.
