Reports suggest that hundreds of Russian troops may be surrounded in Ukraine‘s Vovchansk. Social media videos indicate Russian troops surrendered after an attack on a chemical facility in the Kharkiv region.
According to Visegrad24, at least 24 Russian soldiers have been taken as prisoners of war out of the 400 soldiers holed up in the complex consisting of over 20 buildings. Ukraine’s AzovSouth battalion confirms that the Russians are surrounded with little chance of escape.

Recent combat in Vovchansk mirrors past bloody clashes in Bakhmut and Avdiivka, with Russia potentially facing significant losses again.
One captured soldier recounts, “We were driving to storm a village when we were fired upon; out of nine people, I was the sole survivor.” Another soldier admits, “In just an hour, 60 people were killed.”
Ukrainian President Zelensky claimed that Russian losses in the Kharkiv offensive were significantly higher than Ukraine’s, while Russia’s defense ministry reported approximately 12,000 Ukrainian troop losses in early June.
The situation in Vovchansk remains dynamic, with ongoing developments in the conflict zone.
