Stephen King Slams Donald Trump’s No-Show on Labor Day

Author Stephen King has taken a jab at Donald Trump for skipping Labor Day campaign events.

King, no stranger to critiquing the former president, slammed Trump for not making any public appearances on Labor Day—a day typically filled with political activities. While Trump and his running mate JD Vance stayed out of the spotlight, Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz were actively engaging with voters.

In prior election years, Trump was seen actively campaigning on Labor Day. In 2016, he made a stop in Ohio, and during his presidency in 2020, he gave a speech from the White House.

Although Trump didn’t hit the campaign trail, he did share a message on social media honoring American workers while critiquing Harris. He tweeted, “Happy Labor Day to all of our American Workers who represent the Shining Example of Hard Work and Ingenuity… Under Comrade Kamala Harris, all Americans are suffering during this Holiday weekend,” pointing out various economic challenges.

Vance also offered Labor Day greetings, highlighting the hard work of Americans and affirming support for the everyday worker.

This week, Trump and Vance are slated to campaign across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, whereas Harris and Walz engaged voters in Pittsburgh and Minnesota on Labor Day. Notably, Trump is set to debate Harris on September 10.

The Democratic campaign criticized Trump and Vance’s absence, stating, “They know their anti-worker agenda is extreme and unpopular.” In their view, the Trump-Vance strategy would undermine workers’ rights while benefiting the wealthy.

In a subsequent post, King addressed a supporter questioning President Joe Biden’s activity, stating that the president is “doing his job” while being on break with his wife in Delaware.
