Bestselling author Stephen King recently took to social media to draw a humorous comparison between independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and a character from the classic British comedy series Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
King’s comments came after Kennedy shared an unusual confession regarding an incident from 2014. During a falconry trip, Kennedy admitted to leaving a bear cub, killed by a car, in Central Park. He revealed this in a video linked to an upcoming article in the New Yorker.
In his now-viral tweet, which gained traction with over 140,000 views, King stated, “[RFK Jr.] was late for dinner after falcon hunting, so he left a dead bear cub in Central Park. This is a perfect example of what Monty Python’s Flying Circus called ‘an upper-class twit.’”
King’s reference to the “upper-class twit” comes from a famous Monty Python sketch, which humorously depicts rich but clueless aristocrats participating in ludicrous competitions.
Kennedy shared his account of the incident in a video on Sunday, captioning it with, “Looking forward to seeing how you spin this one, @NewYorker.” The video features Kennedy chatting with Roseanne Barr, who is noted for her support of former President Donald Trump.
In the clip, Kennedy recounts how a woman driving his van accidentally ran over the bear in New York’s Hudson Valley. He initially intended to skin the bear and keep the meat but ended up needing to attend a dinner at Peter Luger Steak House, which led to the bizarre decision to leave the animal in Central Park.
According to Kennedy, he and his friends thought it would be amusing to stage the bear’s death as an accident caused by a bicycle. “But the next day it was, like, on every television station,” he recalled.
Kennedy later expressed regret over the prank, noting it drew significant media attention, and he worried about potential legal repercussions since his fingerprints were on the bicycle. The story faded until it was recently revisited by The New Yorker.
Social media users quickly jumped on Kennedy’s story, with many sharing memes and jokes poking fun at him. This incident adds to a list of peculiar tales surrounding Kennedy, including his claim of a worm that “ate a portion of” his brain and a controversial photo that allegedly shows him with barbecued dog.
