The beef imported by a meat importer went uninspected upon entering the U.S.
South American Meat Inc. (also known as 5Gogi LLC) brought in meat to Arizona, California, and Washington from Uruguay around March 17th. It was during a routine check by the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service that the lack of an “import re-inspection” was discovered.
Specifics of the recalled products include various cuts from FrigorÃfico Casa Blanca S.A. all identified with different case codes (JP0001 to JP0009).
There is a concern that some of these products might still be in freezers owned by consumers, retailers, or others.
If you have purchased any of the recalled items, return them to where you bought them or dispose of them properly.
The recall has been labeled as Class I, indicating medium to high risk of health issues. FSIS warns of potential serious health consequences or even death from consuming the affected products.
As of June 4th, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse effects from consuming the recalled products, according to FSIS.
