The View hosts recently took aim at former President Donald Trump’s visit to McDonald’s, labeling his actions a mere “stunt” when he served French fries without following basic hygiene rules, specifically not wearing a hairnet. They compared this to Vice President Kamala Harris’ active support for McDonald’s workers during her 2019 presidential campaign.
Whoopi Goldberg noted that Harris joined protests in Las Vegas, highlighting workers’ demands for a $15 minimum wage and improved working conditions. “She is marching with protestors and striking with McDonald’s employees,” Goldberg remarked.
The hosts didn’t hold back on criticizing Trump, pointing out that he seemed unaware of the price of a Happy Meal and failed to maintain sanitary practices during his visit. Clips from the event showed no evidence of him washing his hands or wearing gloves.
Goldberg humorously quipped, “No hairnet? I don’t want your French fries!”
In 2019, as a California senator, Harris participated in nationwide fast-food worker rallies advocating for better wages and union rights. She commented, “If we want to talk about these golden arches being a symbol of the best of America, well, the arches are falling short. Working people deserve livable wages.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin criticized Trump for choosing McDonald’s for a campaign stop in Pennsylvania, where he learned to make fries and work the drive-thru. He claimed Harris never worked at a fast-food chain during college, but she has previously stated she worked at a McDonald’s while studying at Howard University.
Hostin dismissed Trump’s visit as a “total stunt,” noting that the restaurant was closed and suggesting he should have shown genuine interest in the workers’ conditions, like Harris did.
Adding to the irony, a health inspection report from Bucks County revealed violations at the very McDonald’s Trump visited, specifically mentioning that employees were not wearing hair restraints, which is a health code requirement.
“Employees shall wear hair restraints such as hats, hair coverings, or nets to keep hair from contacting exposed food,” the report stated.
