Caroline Sunshine, known for her role on the Disney Channel’s Shake It Up, has caused quite a stir after her recent comments regarding Donald Trump’s work ethic became a hot topic online.
Sunshine, who now serves as a spokesperson for Trump, appeared on Newsmax to discuss Trump’s preparations for an upcoming debate against Vice President Kamala Harris. This matchup is particularly noteworthy as the political landscape has shifted dramatically since Trump last debated then-candidate Joe Biden in June.
Following Biden’s withdrawal from the race in July, he endorsed Harris, who has gained momentum in her campaign, particularly after securing the Democratic nomination.
In her interview, Sunshine remarked, “President Trump is working around the clock as usual today, always working 24 hours a day, unlike Kamala Harris because he knows that’s what it takes to be president of the United States.”
These comments quickly went viral, prompting social media users to reference a controversial schedule from Trump’s presidency. This schedule, released by the White House after Trump lost the 2020 election, stated he would “work from early in the morning until late in the evening,” according to the BBC.
One Twitter user humorously quipped, “And by ‘working 24 hours a day,’ she means Donald woke up after 11 a.m., had a six-egg omelet, and then rode around a golf course in a cart with a silly presidential seal.”
This isn’t Sunshine’s first viral moment related to Trump. Back in June, she claimed on Real America’s Voice that Trump is “like a pair of glasses for the American people,” suggesting he reveals the truth. “Sunlight is the best disinfectant. I think that’s something unique about President Trump,” she added.
As the debate approaches, Harris and Trump are in a tight race. RealClear Polling indicates Harris holds a slight lead, averaging 47 to 45.1 percent. Notably, this average includes polling data from third-party candidates, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has since endorsed Trump.
A recent survey by Florida Atlantic University’s PolCom Lab found Trump ahead of Harris by two points in Georgia and one point in North Carolina, with each poll’s results coming from at least 647 registered voters.
Meanwhile, FiveThirtyEight shows Harris leading Trump in national polling, with some experts warning that Trump’s current standing may reflect under-reporting, similar to trends observed in previous election cycles.
