According to a recent Fox News poll, former President Donald Trump has regained a slight edge over Vice President Kamala Harris in the state of Arizona.
This state is one of several crucial battlegrounds that could influence the outcome of the upcoming presidential election in November. Back in 2020, President Joe Biden edged out Trump, becoming the first Democrat to win Arizona since Bill Clinton in 1996.
The latest Fox News survey shows Trump leading Harris by 3 percentage points among likely voters, both in a direct matchup and including third-party candidates. This contrasts with last month’s poll where Harris held a 1-point advantage over Trump.
Notably, the poll indicates significant shifts in demographic support for the candidates. Harris’s 18-point lead among Hispanic voters has tightened to 11 points, and her 14-point lead with women has decreased to just 8 points.
In a surprising twist, Trump saw a remarkable 25-point shift among voters aged 30 and under, where he now leads by 12 points, compared to Harris’s previous lead of 13 points in August.
The poll was carried out via phone and online, surveying 1,021 registered voters in Arizona from September 20 to 24, with a margin of error of 3% for registered voters and 3.5% for likely voters.
Additionally, the same Fox News poll showed Trump-backed Senate candidate Kari Lake struggling against Democrat Ruben Gallego, who is leading by 14 points among registered voters and 13 points among likely voters. Despite these findings, Lake has dismissed the polls as “garbage.”
Trump’s recent gains mirror other polling trends in Arizona, although a Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll released on the same day indicated that Harris had a 3-point lead. Overall, the polling landscape in Arizona remains competitive, with an average from FiveThirtyEight showing Trump ahead of Harris by just 0.8%, a figure well within typical margins of error.
