What is an AMBER Alert?

In 2023, 1,200 children were located thanks to the AMBER Alert system, with 180 being rescued through these emergency notifications.

“Every case featured in an AMBER Alert has been reported missing. The aim is to rally the community quickly to assist in finding and safely recovering a missing child,” said Alan S. Nanavaty, Executive Director at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, in a past interview.

On average, around 200 AMBER Alerts are issued annually. These alerts are disseminated through various channels, including radio, TV, road signs, cell phones, and other digital devices, covering all 50 states, D.C., tribal areas, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Recent Active AMBER Alerts

A Wisconsin toddler has been missing for over three months following an AMBER Alert. Elijah Vue was last seen on February 20 while with his mother’s boyfriend, Jesse Vang, who reported the child missing after waking from a nap.

Elijah was reportedly last seen in gray sweatpants and a long-sleeve dark shirt with dinosaur slip-on shoes.

Both Vang and Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, are currently in custody for child neglect.

Moreover, search efforts are underway for 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers, who disappeared from his home in Sumner County, Tennessee on February 26 and may need assistance due to a medical condition.
