In a recent chat on Fox & Friends, Usha Vance shared that she and her husband, Senator JD Vance of Ohio, don’t always see eye-to-eye on political matters. This comes after Donald Trump announced JD as his running mate for the upcoming presidential election.
JD Vance, a prominent conservative figure and Trump supporter, has been under scrutiny for past remarks regarding “childless” women, alongside ongoing skepticism from some Republicans about his former anti-Trump comments.
During the interview, co-host Ainsley Earhardt asked Usha about their differing political views. She responded, “We’re two different people with varied backgrounds, so we often arrive at different conclusions. But that’s part of what makes our marriage enjoyable. Even when we disagree, I never question JD’s intentions or trustworthiness.” She emphasized that JD values her opinions and incorporates them into his thought processes.
When discussing her views on Trump, Usha reflected on JD’s past skepticism about Trump’s presidential capabilities, noting their extensive discussions about the Trump-Vance ticket. “If I didn’t believe they could truly benefit the country, I wouldn’t support him,” she said. “JD wouldn’t have committed to this path either.”
Usha Vance, an attorney and former clerk for Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh, grew up in California in an immigrant family. She and JD met at Yale Law School and tied the knot in 2014. While she was a registered Democrat until 2018, she shifted to the Republican party by that year.
In a clip from her interview, Usha criticized the media for portraying JD as a stereotype rather than recognizing his character. She said, “Sometimes the news presents a caricature of him. He’s a genuinely good person. I wish people would take a moment to truly listen to his words and grasp their meaning.”
JD has faced backlash for a resurfaced 2021 interview where he described some societal issues as stemming from “childless cat ladies.” He defended his comments later, calling them sarcastic.
