Wade Wilson, a 30-year-old Florida man, is currently facing the death penalty for the shocking murders of Kristine Melton, 35, and Diane Ruiz, 43, in October 2019. Classmates describe Wilson’s childhood as “troubled,” a sentiment echoed by many who knew him growing up.
A judge will decide on August 27 whether to grant Wilson a new trial or acquit him. If not, he will be sentenced later that day.
‘Eerie Presence’
One former classmate recalled a strange atmosphere during high school. “Nobody would eat; they’d just pass drugs around,” she said, reminiscing about the unsettling moments with Wilson and his friends who often wore black hoodies. “They looked so eerie together, especially early in the morning.” She noted that Wilson was her first marijuana companion at age 14, but felt safe around him during those encounters.
Despite some positive memories, Wilson had a reputation for disrespecting authority, including being expelled for setting toilet paper on fire in the bathroom.
‘Questionable Actions’
In a particularly memorable incident, a classmate believes Wilson stole money from her bag but evaded blame when teachers intervened, leaving her frustrated and angry. “I confronted him in front of everyone, but he just laughed,” she recalled.
Recently, she revealed Wilson reached out from jail, but she cut off contact after he made an insensitive remark.
‘His Upbringing’
A classmate shared insights into Wilson’s adoptive parents, describing them as well-meaning and community-oriented. “He had a good life, but something wasn’t right,” she reflected. Another former peer remembered a time when Wilson stole a car, causing concern among their classmates.
‘Allegations of Abuse’
In a troubling TikTok series, Wilson’s ex-girlfriend Kelly Matthews revealed instances of abuse, including choking and assault, claiming that law enforcement failed to take her seriously. She believes that had her case received proper attention, the murders of Melton and Ruiz might have been avoided.
‘Trouble in Prison’
Even during his incarceration for the murders, Wilson has faced additional legal troubles. He is accused of masterminding an escape attempt from jail in 2020, as well as drug-related charges earlier this year. This history paints a picture of a man entangled in a web of violence and defiance from a young age.
