Former President Donald Trump suggested that Taylor Swift had endorsed Joe Biden during a meeting with House Republicans last Thursday.
Trump met with congressional Republicans, marking their first meeting of 2021. This came after his criminal conviction on May 30 in Manhattan, where a jury found him guilty on 34 counts related to falsifying records of his 2016 presidential campaign.
Reportedly, Trump, the presumed GOP nominee, raised eyebrows by asking a group of House representatives, “Why would this woman endorse this dope?” – referring to Swift endorsing Biden.
Despite the speculation, Swift didn’t publicly endorse any candidate on social media. The upcoming election is expected to be as contentious as the 2020 race between Biden and Trump.
There were reports that Trump was surprised that Swift had not supported him, hinting at the Music Modernization Act, as claimed by Rep. Ben Cline of Virginia. Swift endorsed Biden’s 2020 campaign just a month before the election, encouraging her 283+ million Instagram followers to register and vote.
In a January poll, only 13 percent of Trump2020 voters said they would be more likely to vote for a candidate supported by Taylor Swift. By May, this number had risen to 16 percent, with both polls having a margin of error of 2.53 percent. The January survey was conducted among 1,500 voters.
