49ers Decide on Deebo Samuel and George Kittle’s Availability for Week 8

The San Francisco 49ers are set to have both wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. and tight end George Kittle in today’s game, despite lingering doubts about their fitness due to injuries.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport has shared that, according to reliable sources, “#49ers WR Deebo Samuel (wrist/illness) and TE George Kittle (foot) — both of whom are questionable — are expected to play today.”

The 49ers are favored to win against the Dallas Cowboys today, despite missing star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who is out for the season after injuring his knee in a recent game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

With Aiyuk sidelined, having Samuel and Kittle back on the field is a critical boost for the team. Samuel recently battled a “pneumonia-like” illness and was hospitalized due to fluid in his lungs, but he was released earlier this week and should be ready for the game. So far, he has 20 receptions for 335 yards and two touchdowns this season, including one rushing score.

Kittle, a two-time Pro Bowler, has been dealing with foot issues that limited his practice time this week but is expected to play. He has tallied 34 receptions for 375 yards and five touchdowns this season.

Besides Aiyuk, the 49ers will also be without wide receiver Jauan Jennings, defensive lineman Kevin Givens, and kicker Jake Moody. At 3-4 for the season, the 49ers could use all the help they can get as they look to improve their standing.
