Tee Higgins, the Bengals’ standout wide receiver, is making his season debut after missing the first two games with a hamstring injury.
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe broke the news on Twitter/X.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Higgins is ready to play, stating, “Good to go. Had a great week of work.” Higgins echoed that sentiment on Friday, expressing confidence in his recovery.
“Yeah, I’m back. I feel 100 percent,” Higgins said. “Still looking forward to building off a good camp.”
The 25-year-old is finally able to join his teammates after dealing with a frustrating hamstring issue that sidelined him at the start of the season. While he’s available to play, it’s still unclear if any restrictions will be in place.
Taylor has opted not to disclose any potential limitations, yet Higgins’ return is a significant asset for a Bengals offense desperate for its first win of the season.
As they enter Week 3 at 0-2, the Bengals are eager to capitalize on a Commanders defense that hasn’t performed well so far. The Commanders currently rank 29th in opponent yards per pass, 22nd in opponent passing yards per game, and 31st in sack percentage.
Higgins is ready to make his impact felt, despite concerns about his previous injury. He reflected on his hamstring troubles, stating, “Just overstrided one time. Hamstrings, you’ve got to really stretch them. Just happened to get tight that day. Didn’t think it was anything serious, but it ended up being more than I expected and caused me to miss two weeks.”
Higgins, who is in the last year of his contract, had a productive season last year with 42 catches for 656 yards and five touchdowns across 12 games. He faced battles with injuries, including a chest fracture and a thigh strain late last season.
This year, he’s committed to staying healthy and proving he’s worth a lucrative deal.
