Head Coach Mike McCarthy announced that Lawrence has a Lisfranc injury in his right foot, which could keep him out for four to eight weeks. On the other hand, Parsons only has a high ankle sprain and is expected to return sooner, but the timeline remains uncertain.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that, “The #Cowboys will operate this week for their Sunday Night Football match against the #Steelers under the assumption that All-Pro DE/OLB Micah Parsons (ankle) won’t be available, confirmed by coach Mike McCarthy.”
The Cowboys are proceeding with caution; it seems they prefer to let Parsons heal rather than risk a setback in his recovery from the ankle injury.
Parsons’ night took a turn when he sustained a potential concussion early in the game, but he returned after being evaluated. Later, he injured his ankle in the fourth quarter and needed assistance off the field, clearly aware of the severity of the situation.
While Parsons expressed uncertainty about the extent of his injury, Coach McCarthy later clarified it as a high ankle sprain. Fortunately, he should be back in action soon, but losing both him and Lawrence will undoubtedly strain the defense.
Defensive Coordinator Mike Zimmer, in his inaugural season, has faced criticism, especially following a disastrous performance against the New Orleans Saints where they allowed 44 points in Week 2.

With injuries piling up, including Sam Williams’ torn ACL and Jordan Phillips now on IR, the Cowboys’ defensive line is becoming increasingly thin. It will be interesting to see how they adjust to these significant losses.
Recently signed Shaq Lawson was elevated for the game against the Giants, and the Cowboys may need to consider bringing in additional free-agent talent to reinforce their defensive depth.
