Cowboys Star CeeDee Lamb Sit Out Training Camp in Contract Dispute

The Dallas Cowboys opened their training camp without star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, as he continues to hold out for a new contract. Reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter indicate that negotiations between Lamb and the Cowboys have not resulted in an agreement that satisfies the player. Schefter first shared the news on Twitter on Tuesday.

The impasse between Lamb and the Cowboys has led to his absence from training camp until a suitable deal is reached. The 25-year-old is heading into the final year of his contract, which is set to pay him $17.9 million this season.

According to Schefter, Lamb could face fines of $40,000 for each day missed at training camp. However, as he is still in his rookie season, the Cowboys have the option to waive these fines.

Having already skipped mandatory minicamp and voluntary spring workouts, Lamb’s absence comes as no surprise to the Cowboys, who were prepared for this scenario. The team is bracing for the loss of their standout wide receiver until a resolution is reached.

Lamb is reportedly seeking to become one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the league. While the Cowboys are focused on other financial priorities, such as quarterback Dak Prescott’s impending contract negotiations, Lamb remains steadfast in his demands.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Lamb’s future with the team, his impact on the field cannot be overlooked. His stellar performance last season showcased his talent, with 135 receptions, 1,749 yards, 12 touchdowns, and an average of 13.0 yards per reception in 17 games.

Teammates acknowledge Lamb’s significance to the team and recognize the need to maintain a high standard in his absence. Pro Bowl left guard Tyler Smith emphasized the importance of staying focused and ready for Lamb’s return.

As negotiations continue between Lamb and the Cowboys’ management, fans eagerly await the resolution of this contract standoff, which could have significant implications for the team’s future.
