The Dallas Cowboys are set to clash with the San Francisco 49ers for Sunday Night Football, but before the game, owner Jerry Jones faced a concerning moment involving his family.
According to Todd Archer from The Athletic, Charlotte Jones, Jerry Jones Jr., and Shy Anderson Jr. were in a vehicle that was struck by a rising barricade right outside Levi’s Stadium. Fortunately, both Charlotte and Jerry Jr. received medical attention but were cleared to attend the game.
Luckily, there were no injuries from this incident. Jerry and Stephen Jones were traveling in a separate car when the accident happened.
This marks the second car-related incident in the NFL in just two weeks. Recently, Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton and his family were involved in a separate accident.
Dalton was with his wife, three children, and dog at the time, and while no one needed hospitalization, Dalton did sustain a right thumb injury, which prevented him from practicing all week and kept him out of Sunday’s game. Bryce Young filled in and threw for 224 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Panthers’ 28-14 defeat to the Denver Broncos.
While both incidents were alarming, it’s fortunate that all involved families emerged largely unscathed—a reminder of how serious car accidents can be.
Tonight, the Cowboys will take on the 49ers in Santa Clara, California, both in search of crucial wins to boost their chances in the standings.
San Francisco enters the matchup with a 3-4 record and needs a win to stay competitive with the Seattle Seahawks and leading Arizona Cardinals. A victory for the Cowboys, currently at 3-3, would improve their record to 4-3, trailing the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.
Dallas faces a challenging road ahead in this competitive division, making tonight’s game against the 49ers essential for their playoff aspirations.
