Eagles Legend Set to Join Team Hall of Fame

LeSean McCoy, former All-Pro running back of the Philadelphia Eagles, is set to join the Eagles’ Hall of Fame, the team announced on Saturday. The induction ceremony will take place on November 3 during the Eagles’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lincoln Financial Field for Sunday Night Football.

McCoy kicked off his NFL journey when the Eagles drafted him in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft, selecting him out of the University of Pittsburgh. Initially serving as a backup to veteran Brian Westbrook, McCoy soon made his mark by claiming a starting role during Westbrook’s injury. He rushed for an impressive 637 yards, setting a franchise rookie rushing record.

In his second season, McCoy broke the 1,000-yard mark for the first time, repeating this feat in four out of his six seasons with the Eagles. His standout year was 2013, when he topped the NFL with 1,607 rushing yards, achieving an impressive average of 5.1 yards per carry—a season record for the Eagles.

“LeSean was an incredibly gifted player who always approached the game with great joy and enthusiasm,” said Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. “His elusiveness as a dual-threat back captivated everyone who had the privilege of watching him.”

During his tenure with the Eagles, McCoy carried the ball 1,461 times for 6,792 yards and 44 touchdowns, making him the franchise’s all-time rushing leader, and placing him second in carries and third in rushing touchdowns.

“His energy was contagious. More importantly, it was his competitive spirit that truly shaped his legacy as one of the league’s all-time greats,” Lurie added. “We look forward to celebrating LeSean’s remarkable career when he is rightfully enshrined on November 3.”
