Kansas City Chiefs’ running back Isiah Pacheco shared a video on Monday showing him briskly walking on a treadmill, marking his impressive recovery progress.
In other news: Buccaneers’ Mike Evans exited Monday Night Football after sustaining a leg injury.
Pacheco fractured his fibula over a month ago during the Chiefs’ Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and his rapid recovery is certainly noteworthy.
Back in mid-September, head coach Andy Reid expressed concern about Pacheco’s return, stating, “I can’t give you a time when he’ll return. We’ll just see if it’s this season or next season.”
However, his recent treadmill footage suggests he may return to action sooner than expected, potentially making a late-season impact. Drafted by the Chiefs in 2022, Pacheco quickly became a standout player for the team.
In his absence, Kareem Hunt has stepped up and taken on a significant role in the backfield, showcasing the Chiefs’ offensive depth.
Pacheco was initially projected to be out for up to eight weeks, but his return could strengthen an already potent Chiefs offense, which currently stands as the only undefeated team in the league.
The Chiefs are set to face the struggling Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8, who have dealt with quarterback issues and recently lost top receiver Davante Adams to a trade with the New York Jets.
Despite missing key players like Pacheco and JuJu Smith-Schuster, who also suffered an injury against the San Francisco 49ers, the Chiefs have demonstrated resilience. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes highlighted the team’s focus on versatility and teamwork, stating, “It’s about playing team football.” He remains optimistic that the offense will continue to improve as the season progresses.
