Jahan Dotson Speaks Out After Eagles Trade from Commanders

Just before kicking off the 2024 season, the Philadelphia Eagles made headlines by trading for wide receiver Jahan Dotson.

In other news: Browns QB Deshaun Watson will miss the preseason finale against the Seahawks.

Dotson joins the Eagles after being traded from the Commanders, a surprising move given their fierce rivalry in the NFC East. Despite the history, the Commanders opted to assist their competitors with this trade.

Dotson is handling the transition with a positive attitude. Speaking with Philadelphia media, he emphasized that he wouldn’t dwell on the trade but will definitely feel some extra motivation when facing his former team. “I had a great talk with Coach Dan Quinn and Mr. Adam Peters, and they have a lot of faith in me,” he shared. “Things happen in the NFL; it’s part of the business. I won’t take it personally until I see Washington.”

He expressed surprise over the trade, saying, “It was shocking, just because I knew only one thing in the NFL, which was being a Commander. But I get that it’s a business.”

Despite the abrupt change, Dotson is excited about his new chapter in Philadelphia. “Being on the field today gave me goosebumps,” he noted. “Growing up just an hour and a half away, I understand the passion the fans have for the Eagles. It’s thrilling to see their enthusiasm even after a preseason game.”

Dotson was selected by the Commanders as the 16th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. During his two seasons there, he tallied 84 receptions for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 12.4 yards per catch. While he faced some injuries, his talent as an explosive playmaker shone through.

With Dotson now part of the lineup, the Eagles are looking to elevate their already talented offense, which includes stars like quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and running back Saquon Barkley.

As they aim to reclaim their dominance in the NFC East, the Eagles are gearing up for an exciting season ahead.
