After a quick examination by the medical staff, Harbaugh headed to the locker room and was deemed questionable to return due to an “illness.” Fortunately, he later clarified what happened.

“Jim Harbaugh said he has atrial flutter, a type of arrhythmia that causes the upper chambers of the heart to beat 250 to 350 times per minute. A flare-up today is what caused him to leave the game,” according to Rhim’s report.

Harbaugh sensed something unusual with his heart and was quickly evaluated. He even mentioned that he had experienced this issue before while coaching the San Francisco 49ers, humorously noting, “2-0 with arrhythmias,” referring to past encounters.

In typical Harbaugh style, he lightheartedly remarked, “I am medically qualified to talk about it.”

On a positive note, it seems Harbaugh is okay following this alarming episode. He underwent an ECG and further tests to ensure his safety.

During this unexpected turn, his brother John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, was pulled from a press conference to check on him.

With Harbaugh sidelined, defensive coordinator Jesse Minter took over as interim head coach. Fortunately, the team performed well, securing a 23-16 win over the Broncos.

The Chargers maintained control throughout, showcasing a strong defense that troubled Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.

After this scary incident, Harbaugh was able to rejoin the team, delivering an inspiring victory speech to rally his players.
