Following their AFC South victory last season, the Houston Texans didn’t settle for mediocrity. Despite the rise in expectations and the promising young talent on their roster, they aimed to push their core group to reach its full potential.
The Texans, led by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud’s impressive breakout season, are looking ahead with optimism, eyeing a potential Super Bowl run in the near future, if not this upcoming season.

By enhancing their roster with seasoned players like standout wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon, the Texans are boosting their offensive firepower. Diggs provides Stroud with another talented target, while Mixon brings a new dynamic to the team’s running game.
Mixon, who experienced a championship season with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021, sees similarities between that successful team and the current Texans squad. Reflecting on the potential, he remarked, “I believe we have the best talent in a long time. I am confident that we are well-equipped and prepared for a sustained run.”
If Mixon can maintain his performance levels, Houston’s offense will thrive. With expectations high for their passing game, Mixon is under pressure to deliver.
In the previous season with the Bengals, Mixon accumulated 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns. With an expected increase in touches this season with the Texans, he is a player the Texans are enthusiastic about going into the new year.
When asked about potentially leading in carries in 2024, Mixon expressed his confidence. “I have put in the work this offseason, more than ever before. I am ready to embrace my role in the offense and reap the rewards of my hard work.”
The Texans are on an upward trajectory with the potential for significant success in the upcoming season, positioning them as one of the AFC’s strongest contenders. Despite their youth, the team is determined to showcase their abilities and make a mark in the league.
