Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison recently addressed rumors sparked by his ambiguous social media post featuring the phrase “Free 3.” Fans speculated that this could be a hint at wanting a trade, but Addison set the record straight.

Speaking to Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com, Addison said, “People just try to make something out of anything. It ain’t nothing.”
While his post made fans wonder if he was expressing a desire to leave the team, Addison clarified that “Free 3” is a phrase he has used since his college days. He even shared a throwback photo to prove its long-standing origin.
“I think I came up with that in 2020 fall camp at Pittsburgh,” he explained. “People got to do their homework before they start saying stuff.”
Despite putting the trade rumors to rest, Addison acknowledged that this season hasn’t been ideal for him. With only 14 catches for 231 yards and one touchdown across the first few games, his performance is a stark contrast to last year’s stats—70 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie.
An ankle injury that sidelined him for two games has contributed to his sluggish start, along with the Vikings’ overall struggle in the passing game, averaging only 27.14 pass attempts per game.
“Obviously I wish I could be doing a little bit better, but I’m doing everything I can,” Addison said. “I’m learning every week, watching the film, and just trying to get better every day. I’m just looking forward to having a good game this week.”
Even with his slower stats, Addison clarified he has no issues with how the Vikings are utilizing him this season, saying, “No, I’m straight.” He emphasized that his focus remains on getting open on the field, which is crucial for any receiver.
As the trade deadline approaches, speculation continues to swirl around players across the league. Still, Addison remains firm in his commitment to the Vikings.
