While these awards may not carry the same weight as a Pro Bowl selection, they highlight the performers who are making significant impacts on their teams. Let’s take a look at the Players of the Month for September.
AFC Winners:
The AFC Offensive Player of the Month title goes to Josh Allen, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. Not new to this recognition, Allen had an impressive September, racking up 814 passing yards, 106 rushing yards, nine total touchdowns, and achieving a passer rating of 116.5. With the Bills currently sitting at 3-1, Allen’s performance has been pivotal in their quest for the AFC East title.
On the defensive side, Kyle Van Noy of the Baltimore Ravens claims the AFC Defensive Player of the Month award, posting eight tackles, seven tackles for loss, six sacks, one pass defended, and forcing one fumble over the month. His sack total stands out, especially considering it was achieved within just four games.
The AFC Special Teams Player of the Month is Chris Boswell, kicker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who made 11 out of 12 kicks in September for a total of 39 points. Notably, he converted two field goals over 40 yards and five out of six from beyond 50 yards.
NFC Winners:
The standout in the NFC is Sam Darnold of the Minnesota Vikings, earning the Offensive Player of the Month honor with 932 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, a passer rating of 118.9, and a completion percentage of 68.9%. Darnold’s resurgence has been a surprise, guiding the Vikings to a perfect 4-0 start.
Aidan Hutchinson from the Detroit Lions captures the NFC Defensive Player of the Month award, showcasing his prowess with 16 tackles, 6.5 sacks, six tackles for loss, and one forced fumble. Hutchinson is already making waves this season.
The NFC Special Teams Player of the Month is Brandon Aubrey of the Dallas Cowboys, who has amassed 43 points with a conversion rate of 12-for-13 on field goals, excelling with five successful kicks from both 40 and 50 yards or longer.
Rookie Highlights:
Washington Commanders’ rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is named the Offensive Rookie of the Month after bouncing back from a shaky start. With 897 passing yards, 218 rushing yards, seven total touchdowns, and a passer rating of 107.4, Daniels has helped the Commanders to a 3-1 record, putting them at the top of the NFC East.
