The Miami Dolphins might be welcoming back a key player for their Week 8 game.
As reported by FOX Sports insider Jordan Schultz, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is set to return to practice this week, with hopes of playing against the Arizona Cardinals.
Tagovailoa is currently in concussion protocol after suffering another head injury earlier in the season. His concussion in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills has kept him sidelined for four games.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel expressed optimism about Tagovailoa’s return, stating that he anticipates his quarterback will be back for the rest of the 2024 season.
“I do believe he’ll play football this year,” McDaniel said. “I’ve learned that the right questions are about the person, not just the player.”
Tagovailoa has been on injured reserve and is nearing the minimum four-game absence. The team is confident he will be ready to return if practice goes smoothly this week.
Adding to this optimism, Tagovailoa has been meeting with neurologists and has not received concerning news that would make him reconsider his wish to return to football.
Since joining the NFL in 2020, Tagovailoa has faced multiple concussion issues. He sustained two concussions in the 2022 season alone, which led the league to revise its concussion reporting policies.
His absence has been felt deeply in Miami’s offense, which thrives under his unique playing style. Currently, the Dolphins hold a 2-3 record and are looking forward to a fresh start after a bye week in Week 6.
Despite struggling with injuries throughout the roster, the Dolphins are hopeful that Tagovailoa’s return will change their chances on the field.
