After a tough 30-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison left fans guessing with a cryptic Instagram post that featured him with the caption “Free 3.” This comes after he had a rather quiet game, recording just two catches for 22 yards.
Throughout the season, Addison’s performance has been underwhelming, with only 14 receptions for 231 yards and a single touchdown. Notably, he hasn’t exceeded three receptions in any game so far.
Last year, Addison burst onto the scene as a rookie, making 70 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns, making him a promising addition alongside All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson. However, his opportunities seem limited this season.
Jefferson is enjoying a standout season, amassing 41 receptions for 646 yards and five touchdowns while leading the Vikings to a solid 5-2 record. Yet, after suffering consecutive losses to the Detroit Lions and Rams, questions arise about the offensive strategy.
It’s unclear what Addison’s post hints at—whether he’s seeking a trade or simply hoping for a bigger role in the game plan. Either way, increasing his usage could not only benefit him but also potentially open up opportunities for Jefferson.
In the lead-up to the game, Jefferson himself expressed the need to elevate the team’s offensive play, stating, “I’m definitely sick of having these 80, 90-yard games. I definitely have to get over that hump of 100 yards. That’s definitely my plan.” He emphasized that executing plays effectively requires all players to be dialed in and give quarterback Sam Darnold enough time.
Looking ahead, the Vikings will face the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday night, giving them a critical opportunity to regroup before the NFL trade deadline on November 5.
