Brittany Furlan Lee, wife of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, has shared a chilling experience involving their pet dog and a coyote.
In a video posted on her Instagram account @brittanyfurlan, Furlan Lee showed the moment when their dog, Neena, was grabbed by a coyote in broad daylight while playing in the backyard by the pool.
Furlan Lee’s screams echoed as she ran after the coyote, which was trying to leap over a wall with Neena in tow. Luckily, she was able to retrieve Neena and later told Tommy Lee about the incident, visibly shaken and emotional.
In her video, she recounted the frightening moment: “I was letting the dogs out and suddenly a coyote came and grabbed Neena.” She cautioned other pet owners, saying, “Please be careful with your dogs. I’ve lived here for four years without seeing a coyote until today. They are getting desperate.”
Furlan Lee expressed her gratitude that Neena has some extra weight, noting it probably helped prevent the coyote from escaping with her. She also shared her worries about their other dog, Teenie, mentioning that the outcome could have been much worse had the coyote targeted her instead.
According to Furlan Lee, the incident occurred around 1 p.m., underscoring the increasing boldness and hunger of coyotes in the area. She advised other dog owners to keep a close eye on their pets, saying, “I’m not even letting the dogs out anymore,” and urged everyone to “hug your babies extra tight.”

In California, where the couple resides, there have been rising concerns over coyote attacks. Recent reports include incidents of coyotes approaching both people and pets, highlighting the ongoing issue—estimated to affect between 250,000 and 750,000 coyotes residing in the state, per the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
