This week in pet news, we have some delightful highlights, including two cats channeling their inner The Lion King, and a goldendoodle haircut misadventure after a husband decided to tackle grooming himself.
Pet of the Week
Meet our Pet of the Week, Dipper! This 6-year-old rescue pup has been living his best life with owner Gigi Warner, who adopted him from a shelter when he was just a year old.
Recently, while out with her grandson, Gigi surprised Dipper with a special treat—a tasty pup cup, which is basically dog-friendly whipped cream or ice cream. Dipper’s reaction? Pure joy!
“Dipper really loves his pup cups,” Gigi shared. “It’s not an everyday thing. Sometimes he joins me for coffee runs, or I’ll bring him one home.”
Beyond treats, Dipper enjoys fun-filled days swimming with Gigi’s grandkids. “Whoever had him before me must’ve treated him well. He’s such a good boy, and I feel lucky to have him,” she added.
Finalists
Next on our list is Dotty, the adorable cat belonging to Deb MacDonald. You can’t miss Dotty and her unique three spots: one on her nose, one under her chin, and another on her hind foot. When she’s not playing with her toys, you’ll find Dotty following Deb around the house.
Introducing Star, a 5-year-old service dog owned by Michael Burke. After a workplace injury, Star stepped up to support Michael, who lives with partial paralysis and nerve damage. Even though Star is hesitant about water, she vigilantly observes from the shade at the pool in their southern apartment complex.
“She was strutting around like she was a superhero for a day,” Michael chuckled, recalling her charming attitude.
Last, we have Charlie Darwin, a rescue dog who has been Nancy’s steadfast companion following the loss of her husband, Joe, to COVID-19 in 2020. Described as Nancy’s “shadow,” Charlie is a big dog with a gentle heart. “He’s got these human-like eyes and gets really anxious when I’m not around,” she shared.
Navigating life without Joe is tough for Nancy and Charlie, who still seem to be waiting for him to come home.
