So, this family thought they were getting a sprightly 3-year-old pup but turns out, they got way more than they bargained for!
Picture this: a stepdad was dead-set on buying a dog listed on Craigslist for just 100 bucks. Reluctantly, the rest of the family went along with it, and lo and behold, they brought Mason into their lives. What they didn’t expect was that their “young” pup was a pro at napping – snoozing the days away like a champ!
As time went on, they couldn’t help but notice that Mason’s constant sleepiness seemed a bit off for his age. A vet trip exposed the truth: the supposed 3-year-old dog was actually a seasoned 10-year-old with ailing heart issues. According to a March 26 TikTok post on @gabimendz, the vet said Mason had around nine months left to live.
But this family was on a mission to make Mason’s final days his best days. And boy, did they spoil him rotten! Mason lived like a royal pooch, enjoying fancy haircuts, his own pool floaty, Halloween dress-ups, and Christmas gifts. He thrived in his newfound life of luxury and defied the vet’s time frame.
That momentous nine-month mark came and went, and Mason was still living it up. Then, two years breezed by.
On July 30, 2022, two years after being brought home from Craigslist, Mason peacefully passed away. While the family showered him with love in his final years, they felt they received much more from Mason during those precious pandemic years.
The video’s message: “The best boy ever. We gave him a great end to his life but he gave us the best two years we could have imagined. I’ll miss you always Mason.”
