One dog owner, Brit, also known as @whata_bout_winston online, recently shared her humorous worry about her golden retriever’s laid-back behavior.
She mentioned how Winston’s transformation from a wild puppy to a calm adult got her fretting at times about his health.
Britt jokingly said, “He was a demon puppy…and even a demon adolescent. In the last few months, he has officially become an adult.”
Sharing a video of Winston lounging on the couch, Brit quipped, “This is his go-to look 90% of the time.”
She humorously added, “I wanted a cute and sweet dog, but now I find myself asking him multiple times a day, ‘Are you feeling okay? Are you secretly dying?'”
While some dog owners can relate to Brit’s concerns, it’s common for dogs, like humans, to mellow out as they age. They grow into calmer versions of themselves with time.
Many viewers reassured Brit by sharing their own experiences with their dogs becoming more relaxed as they matured.
One user commented, “Just waiting for my pup to calm down. It’s tough with a nine-month-old.”
Another user shared, “My golden suddenly became relaxed between 1.5 and 2 years old. No more leash dragging; now, he behaves well at restaurants and is simply happy to be there.”
A third user mentioned their 14-year-old dog transitioning into a “total chill snuggle bear.”
Another user humorously mentioned spending $250 at the vet just to be reassured that their dog was indeed happy and healthy.
Brit’s social media post from April 23, viewed by nearly a million people, sparked various responses from dog owners sharing their own dog’s quirky journeys from chaos to calm.
One user joked, “My dog calmed down at 2…I’m still waiting for mine to calm down at 4.”
