Donald Trump’s Tips for CNN’s Dana Bash Before Interviewing Kamala Harris

Former President Donald Trump had some words for CNN’s Dana Bash as she prepared to interview Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz. He encouraged her to perform a “great service” for the country during their chat, which is set to air Thursday night.

This interview marks the first joint appearance for the Democrats’ presidential nominees, following criticism directed at Harris and Walz for shying away from significant media engagement. Trump has also taken aim at Harris’s decision to be interviewed alongside Walz.

In a post on Truth Social early Thursday, Trump complimented Bash for her fair moderating during his June debate against President Joe Biden, who exited the race shortly after. He hinted that this new interview could be a moment of triumph for her.

Trump didn’t hold back, referring to his opponents with nicknames like “Comrade Kamala” and “Tampon Tim,” underscoring his pointed criticism of Harris and a baseless claim about Walz’s school bathroom policies.

He stated, “Dana Bash of CNN has a chance at greatness today. If she gave a fair but tough interview of Comrade Kamala Harris, she will expose her as being totally inept… How cool would that be for Dana and CNN???”

Trump further suggested that Harris should be interviewed alone, without Walz, to avoid potential missteps and emphasized the importance of keeping the transcript intact. He praised his own debate with Biden, remarking on the fairness exhibited by Bash and fellow anchor Jake Tapper during that exchange.

He wrapped up his thoughts by expressing that this interview could be a stepping stone for Bash’s career, while making a case for it as a pivotal moment for the country. Trump wished her well, urging her to “do the right thing.”

The Trump campaign has pointed out that the pre-taped format of the interview gives “handlers” the opportunity for damage control, a concern that underscores the scrutiny both candidates face during media interactions.
