On Friday, Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake found herself on the receiving end of some playful mockery from her Democratic rival, Congressman Ruben Gallego. During a rally for former President Donald Trump in Glendale, Arizona, a humorous photo surfaced showing Lake being urged to leave the stage, with a teleprompter message that read, “Please get off stage. Trump waiting.”
Gallego took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the image, quipping, “MAGA Republicans finally catching up to the rest of Arizona. @KariLake.”
Interestingly, Trump rallies feature a lineup of Republican speakers before Trump himself takes the stage, filling the gap while supporters eagerly await his arrival.
Adding to the fun, North Carolina Democrat Representative Wiley Nickel chimed in with a laughing emoji, saying, “This is a photo of MAGA extremist Kari Lake being told by Trump to get off the stage! The #AZSenchoice is crystal clear. We need @RubenGallego in the US Senate.”
Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Senator John McCain and known critic of Lake, also had a laugh at the moment. McCain’s disdain for Lake stems from past comments Lake made about her father during her unsuccessful 2022 gubernatorial campaign.
Lake, a proponent of “America First” policies and a staunch election denier, is up against Gallego, a former U.S. Marine and seasoned congressman, in the upcoming November election for the seat currently held by Kyrsten Sinema, who is not seeking reelection.
In a twist from her previous campaign, Lake accused her opponent of being a radical. “I’m extremely worried about what my opponent Ruben Gallego will do to the state we love,” she told the crowd. Meanwhile, Gallego has been focused on bridging political divides, recently announcing support from a diverse coalition of Arizona Republicans and independents.
Gallego stated, “I am running for the U.S. Senate to represent all Arizonans, regardless of where they live or what political party they align themselves with. We may not agree on everything, but we can find common ground on one essential goal: building a better Arizona.”
