On her show “The Ingraham Angle,” Laura Ingraham made headlines when she mistakenly referred to Milwaukee as part of Minnesota while criticizing the Kamala Harris-Tim Walz ticket for the 2024 presidential election.
Ingraham, along with Fox News contributors Mary Katherine Ham and Molly Hemingway, took aim at Walz’s governance, branding his policies as extreme. In discussing Minnesota’s recovery from 2020, she said, “If you know Minnesota—and I know it well, especially Milwaukee.” The mix-up drew significant attention on social media, as Milwaukee is actually located in Wisconsin, not Minnesota.
Following Walz’s announcement as Harris’ running mate, scrutiny around his response to the civil unrest in Minneapolis post-George Floyd’s murder intensified. Notably, protests led to two fatalities and over 600 arrests, resulting in immense damages across Minnesota, which were reported by the BBC.
In the wake of the chaos, Walz mobilized the Minnesota National Guard after three days of violence, facing criticism for his delayed action. He later admitted the city’s response was an “abject failure.”
Critics include former President Trump and his running mate JD Vance, who condemned Walz for his handling of the situation. Vance characterized Walz’s actions by saying, “Tim Walz was the guy who let rioters burn down Minneapolis…” However, Trump had previously praised Walz’s actions during the crisis.
Despite the backlash, some have commended Walz for reaching out to the Floyd family and advocating for police reform after the incident, recognizing his efforts in a profoundly challenging situation.
