Mary Trump, the estranged niece of former President Donald Trump, expressed that her uncle doesn’t truly care about unity during a speech he delivered at the Republican National Convention (RNC) this week.
In her newsletter, “The Good In Us,” Mary Trump bluntly stated, “The man who incited a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol due to losing an election doesn’t really prioritize unity.”
Donald Trump is currently facing legal issues concerning his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election result, leading to the Capitol riot. He has denied all accusations of wrongdoing.
Mary Trump criticized media outlets for portraying her uncle’s call for unity as genuine, despite his history of divisiveness and attacks on political opponents.
She questioned why the media chooses to overlook his divisive actions and portray him in a positive light, particularly after his RNC speech, which followed an assassination attempt on his life.
In his speech, Trump emphasized unity, stating, “We rise together or we fall apart. I am running to be president for all of America.”
Although Trump claimed to have adjusted his speech after surviving an assassination attempt, it was criticized for failing to bridge the gap between Republicans and Democrats.
Mary Trump reiterated that her uncle has not changed, labeling him as “the same cruel man I have always known,” referencing various instances to support her claim.
She highlighted cases where Trump’s actions were harmful, such as the Capitol riot and his controversial statements regarding abortion rights.
Mary Trump has been a vocal critic of her uncle, cautioning against his return to the presidency. She previously authored a book titled “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man.”
