Meet Christian Fitts: The TikToker Whose Dad is a Keynote Speaker at the DNC!

Eric Fitts, a dedicated educator from Raleigh, North Carolina, has recently found himself in the national spotlight due to a viral TikTok video created by his son, Christian. This video captured President Joe Biden’s visit to their home earlier this year.

This unexpected fame has led Eric to be invited for a major speaking role at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where he will share the stage with his sons, Christian and Carter, on the final night of the event.

Biden’s visit was part of a strategy to connect with everyday Americans and promote his administration’s commitment to student loan forgiveness, a policy that has personally benefited Eric. He has been a part of the educational system since 2007 and has served as principal of Brentwood Magnet Elementary School of Engineering since 2015.

During Biden’s visit in January, Christian filmed a memorable TikTok that showcased a casual chat with the President, covering topics from basketball to education. The clip quickly garnered massive attention, thrusting the Fitts family into the public eye.

The family’s connection with Biden continued when Eric introduced him at a rally in Raleigh months later, following a controversial debate that marked the beginning of Biden’s re-election campaign struggles. In his heartfelt introduction, Eric emphasized the positive impact of Biden’s student loan forgiveness initiative on their lives.

On Thursday, the Fitts family will speak at the United Center in Chicago, contributing to the evening’s theme, “For our Future.” Their message aligns with Kamala Harris’ strategy to engage younger voters and social media influencers through relatable personal stories.

The 2024 DNC is actively adapting by incorporating content creators to appeal to younger audiences, and social media influencers will share the stage alongside politicians and celebrities throughout the four-day event.

On the third day of the convention, notable figures like Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, former President Bill Clinton, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi are expected to take the stage. Walz will likely accept the Democratic Party’s nomination for vice president, with Mindy Kaling hosting and a performance from John Legend to cap off the evening.
