A video featuring Kerry Kennedy, the sister of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., went viral over the weekend as she criticized her brother for endorsing Donald Trump. The clip, shared by Acyn from MeidasTouch, generated over 1.3 million views, 33,000 likes, and 8,500 shares on X (formerly Twitter) by Sunday evening.
Kerry, a human rights attorney and president of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization, expressed her dismay during a recent interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki. This discussion occurred shortly after Kennedy Jr. exited the presidential race, where he had been a leading third-party candidate.
During the interview on Inside with Jen Psaki, she declared that politicians like Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz align with her family’s values, a stark contrast to Trump, whom she deemed a threat to fundamental freedoms.
Kerry’s sentiments were echoed by other family members who branded her brother’s endorsement as a “betrayal.” She had initially endorsed Biden but switched her support to Harris after Biden stepped back from the race.
In her remarks, Kerry invoked their father’s legacy, stating, “If my dad were alive today, the real Robert Kennedy would have detested almost everything Donald Trump represents.” She further articulated her disassociation from Robert Jr., condemning his actions as disrespectful to their father’s memory.
This family drama caught the attention of political commentator Meghan McCain, who remarked on X that while she doesn’t support Trump, the public squabbles within the Kennedy family seem “trashy and beneath all of you for a family who considers itself the premier American political dynasty.”
