Trump Fills Time on Stage for 20 Minutes After Rally Mic Goes Dead

At a rally in Detroit, Michigan, former President Donald Trump experienced a brief technical hiccup while addressing his enthusiastic supporters. Mid-sentence, his microphone cut out, leading to nearly 20 minutes of pacing on stage as fans cheered, chanted, and even started the wave.

During this break, a screen displayed the message, “Technical Difficulties. Complicated Business,” while the crowd encouraged him with chants of “Fight, fight, fight.”

Eventually, Trump tested the mic again, and the crowd erupted into applause. “Hello?” he asked, pleased that it was working. He humorously remarked, “I won’t pay the bill for this stupid company that rented us this crap,” before resuming his speech.

Once the mic was functional, he expressed his distaste for it, stating he didn’t like it from the start. Trump shifted gears to discuss his economic policy, focusing on his proposal for heavy tariffs on U.S. trading partners—part of his “Build It In America Plan.”

He claimed, “They will pay a very stiff tariff when they send their products into the United States for the privilege of competing with our workers and our cherished companies.” Though this plan thrilled his supporters, experts warned that it might adversely affect American consumers and lead to economic uncertainty.

Earlier in the day, Trump had declared his fondness for tariffs, even stating they rivaled the word “love.” “I tell you, I think it’s more beautiful than ‘love,'” he quipped, drawing laughter from the audience.

As Trump took the stage in Michigan, Vice President Kamala Harris was also campaigning in the area, trying to secure the allegiance of independent and undecided voters ahead of the upcoming November election.

Harris had her own rally, spoke with union auto workers, and planned another gathering in Detroit later that evening.
