A car enthusiast’s quest for speed took a twist from thrilling to terrifying when he got behind the wheel of his newly tuned 1,200 horsepower Chevrolet Corvette Z06. What started as a performance enhancement project in Texas quickly became an exhilarating adventure.
The tune-up was handled by Late Model Racecraft, a company famous for transforming already impressive vehicles into exceptional high-performance machines. This Corvette’s power left even some hypercars, like the Bugatti Chiron with its 1,111 horsepower, in the dust.
The original C7 Corvette Z06 was impressive with its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. However, by choosing Late Model Racecraft for a 1,200 horsepower upgrade, the owner aimed to take performance to a whole new level.
This amazing upgrade places the tweaked Z06 ahead of the anticipated C8 ZR1, which boasts a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a respectable 1,064 horsepower.

During a test drive with Late Model Racecraft’s Steven Fereday, equipped with a GoPro, the owner first felt elation, which quickly shifted to shock as he experienced the car’s full power. In an unforgettable moment, he said, “That’s scary,” joking, “I don’t think I’m afraid of flying anymore.”
Despite the initial fright, he couldn’t be happier with the outcome. “I am still trying to take it all in. All I know is that I am very happy with it,” he shared. The souped-up Chevy exceeded all his expectations, becoming “scarier and louder” than he had imagined.
