Bret Holmes Racing is back in action, but under new ownership. Just a week after shutting down, the team’s assets have been acquired by Late Model racer Chris Hettinger. The newly named Hettinger Racing will compete in the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with 2018 champion Brett Moffitt behind the wheel.
“This was the right time to expand Hettinger Racing,” Hettinger stated. “We’ll keep our Late Model program going with the zMAX CARS Tour, while also running select ARCA and Truck Series races as they fit into our schedule.”
Founded in 2016, Bret Holmes Racing won the ARCA Menards Series championship in 2020 and transitioned to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2021, fielding the No. 32 truck with drivers like Bret Holmes, Sam Mayer, and Ty Dillon. The team participated in 63 Truck Series races, securing seven Top 10 finishes.
This season, BHR ran 20 races but paused after a ninth-place finish at Talladega on October 4. This break allowed Hettinger to finalize the acquisition before finishing the season with two upcoming Truck Series races where Moffitt will drive the No. 4 Chevrolet Silverado.
“Brett Moffitt is a fantastic addition as we prepare for 2025,” Hettinger noted. “His experience will be crucial for our final races this season at Martinsville and Phoenix.”
Hettinger emphasized their quick turnaround to make a solid impact in the remaining races this year. Moffitt, a veteran in NASCAR with 13 wins and a championship title, looks forward to taking the reins and guiding Hettinger Racing’s future. “Chris has top-notch equipment, and I’m excited to drive the Chevy and help prepare for next year,” he said.
