Ollie Bearman’s Tough Practice Session: Alex Albon’s Oversteer Causes Collision

Ollie Bearman’s practice session at the Mexican Grand Prix came to an abrupt halt when he collided with Alex Albon during Free Practice 1.

The incident occurred roughly 20 minutes into the session at the tricky Turn 10 chicane, known for its demanding layout that tests even seasoned drivers. Bearman, a 19-year-old British talent set to join the Haas F1 team in upcoming seasons, was on a slow lap and moved off the racing line to let Albon pass. However, as Albon approached, he lost control of his car in the corner, resulting in a crash that left both vehicles damaged, with Albon’s car wedged into the tire barrier.

This collision led to a red flag for the practice session, but fortunately, both drivers emerged unharmed. Bearman was seen being escorted away on a motorbike, while Albon climbed into the back of an Aston Martin DBX.

via Sky Sports F1: “Frustrated. We need to assess what happened. Alex had to back off and lost the car on the apex. It shouldn’t go wrong there. As long as the chassis is okay, we’ll be good for FP2. If it is damaged, it will take more time to fix.”
